As I talk with my family and friends, it seems that everyone is so busy. Whether it’s work, taking children to their sporting event or taking care of an
elderly family member, everyone is busy.
It’s hard to squeeze banking into our busy schedules. It is true that our branch office staff enjoys the opportunity to serve our members when they visit our offices. The ability to discuss your finances and how they can help save you money or inform you of a product or service that can solve a problem for you is one of the reasons many of our staff enjoy their jobs so much.
However, more and more of our members prefer to do their banking without visiting an office. That’s why over the years USX FCU has added and enhanced our self-serve products and services with many FREE or low cost options that allow you to bank whenever you want, wherever you want, and how you want. Everything from payroll direct deposit, online banking with bill pay, E-statements, our mobile app, remote check deposit, tap and go Apple Pay and Google Pay and the 90,000 ATMs nationwide, just to mention a few. I encourage you to utilize these products to make your life a bit easier. You can do your banking when you have some down time to get some of the important things taken care of without waiting until business hours or jumping in your car and having to drive to an office.

In a recent scam, cybercriminals claim you can earn cash by simply liking YouTube videos. To convince you that the job is legitimate, they send you a few dollars after your first day of “work.” Later, you’ll be offered an opportunity to join an exclusive list of VIPs who make
even more money. Of course, you’ll have to invest to become a VIP. How much? Up to $1,000. Once paid, you can expect the cybercriminals to take the money and run.

USX FCU is continually working to improve your banking experience. In our last newsletter, our CEO Mark Volponi briefly outlined several of the NEW and exciting projects and product enhancements that are coming in 2024. The first in 2024 has been the upgrades to our VISA Credit Card program for members.
Starting in February, VISA credit cardholders were automatically enrolled in our new Premium Texting service to help prevent fraud. If a cardholder’s transaction is “flagged” suspicious or was denied, if a text enabled telephone number is on file, within 30 seconds of the denial, the cardholder will receive a text message to verify the transaction. A simple “YES” or “NO” answer will determine if the transaction is processed or a restriction is placed on the card. If the cardholder does not respond to the text message within 15 minutes, a voice call will be attempted to all telephone numbers on file.
The second enhancement to our VISA credit cards was our conversion to a new processing platform that has provided a more user friendly experience for members that use the online services. A “new look” VISA credit card website and online monthly statement, along with a smoother option to make your monthly payments, are the highlights of the new platform.
Lastly, our Card Trac app allows you to manage not only your USX FCU VISA credit cards, but also your debit card. In addition to being able to turn your cards “ON” and “OFF”, getting alerts when your cards are used and many other capabilities to help manage your cards and prevent fraud, the ability to create a VISA credit card “Travel Plan” is now available. Previously, if you were traveling outside your “home area”, whether out of state or out of the country, we suggested that as a member you call USX FCU to inform us of your “travel plans” so that we could ensure that both your debit and credit card would not be declined while traveling when making a purchase. NOW, by downloading and using the Card Trac app, you can schedule your travel plan without contacting the credit union. This can save you the embarrassment of a credit or debit transaction being declined while traveling and also prevent fraud.
