Winter 2025 Newsletter

Presidents Message

2025 has come and gone and now we look forward to 2026 and the opportunities that await us.

As we look back on 2025, I’m proud of several projects that were completed here at USX Federal Credit Union.

Two major capital projects were undertaken in 2025. The first was the relocation and opening of our new office in Monaca on June 2, 2025. We are very pleased with the look and feel of the new office and are excited about being in an area with more convenient access for our members and higher foot traffic. Please stop by and visit the team at 115 Wagner Road, Unit 108, Monaca, PA 15061.

The second capital project is our new Monroeville, PA office. Construction is well underway at the new location at 2525 Monroeville Boulevard. This will be a full-service branch, complete with a walk-up ATM. We also will try something new at this office as we offer free coffee and other hot beverages plus a sitting area for members and free public WIFI for our members. We anticipate celebrating a grand opening in the first quarter of 2026.

In 2025, we announced our new partnership with Keystone Lending Alliance which enhanced our auto-lending program. This partnership allows our members to experience “one stop shopping” when purchasing a new car. Our members can select the car of their dreams at one of the over 400 participating dealerships here in Pennsylvania and complete the financing of their vehicle with USX Federal Credit Union while at the dealership. We are very pleased with the results of this enhanced car buying experience for our members and are thrilled to report that it has been very well received by the membership.

Also in 2025, we announced a lending partnership that allows the credit union to offer business lending for our members. The credit union can now provide the financing of business owned vehicles for our members that own and operate their own businesses. In addition, the credit union can now provide financing for members that own and operate 1-4 family rental properties. This new product offering has also been well received by the membership.

These new 2025 initiatives not only provided a great benefit to our members, but also to the credit union as well.

We are working on several additional new member services for 2026.

One project that we are very excited about is bringing a “Person to Person” (P2P) platform to our membership via our mobile and electronic banking applications. A new P2P platform would allow members to instantly transfer payments to other individuals on a real-time basis. More to follow on this new service!

As always, we invite you to take advantage of our enhanced self-service products. These allow you to bank whenever you want, wherever you want, and however you want.

My favorites are our online banking and our mobile banking, which includes electronic bill pay and remote check deposit. We also offer Google Pay and Apple Pay. I use Google Pay frequently and like the convenience it provides in addition to an added layer of security when using my USX FCU debit card and credit card.

Another of my favorite products is our CardTrac app for your phone. This app allows me to get notifications anytime that I use my USX FCU debit card or credit card. It allows me to turn my cards on and off and it now allows me to enter travel notifications for domestic and international travel for debit cards and credit cards. With this app, I no longer have to notify the credit union of my travel plans to ensure that my cards will work on my trip.

Another fantastic program available to our members is our partnership with USX Investment Services to provide professional financial services for personalized retirement planning, insurance, and for investment strategies. Reach out to Nathan Rodgers for a no cost, no-obligation appointment at 724-779-4895 or 888-219-3159 ext. 4895.

USX FCU appreciates your membership. If you have any questions about any of our products and services, please visit an office, visit our website (www.usxfcu.org) or give us a call at 888-219-3159.

As always, USX Federal Credit Union is dedicated to continually enhancing our products and services to better serve you, our valued member-owners.

Thank you for your membership and continued support of USX Federal Credit Union.

Sincerely,

Mark A. Volponi

President & CEO

Wake Up Your Dormant Accounts!

USX Federal Credit Union is required to report Unclaimed Property (escheat) to the Pennsylvania and Ohio Department of Revenue for accounts that have been “dormant” in accordance with state law. An account is considered dormant if there have been no member initiated withdrawals, deposits or transfers made during this period. The best way to be safe is to WAKE UP your account by making a deposit and watching your USX FCU accounts grow. If you are unsure of the status of your account, please contact your local office by calling 1-888-219-3159.

TECH TIPS

In this week’s scam, you receive an unexpected call on Microsoft Teams, an app for voice calls, sending messages, and video chats. The call is from a user named “IT SUPPORT” or “Help Desk.” This user’s profile might even have a check mark emoji to make it look official. The caller claims there’s an urgent problem with your computer and that the IT department must fix it immediately.

However, the caller is a cybercriminal and not part of your organization’s IT department. They’re taking advantage of a default setting in Teams that allows users from outside your organization to contact you. If you answer the cybercriminal’s call, they’ll ask you to download software that allows them to access your computer. They can then take control of your computer to steal your passwords, install malware, and even access your organization’s network!

Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to this scam:

  • Be suspicious of any unexpected calls from IT support. Verify the request is legitimate by contacting your organization’s IT department directly.
  • Don’t download any software at the request of someone from an unexpected online chat or call. Always stop and think before you select a link!
  • Never give screen-sharing access or remote control of your computer to someone you can’t verify. Scammers often create a sense of urgency to rush you into making a mistake.
